Agee James Melvin, age 77, a native of Mt. Juliet, TN, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Melvin attended Green Hill Church of Christ. He worked as a mechanic for Castleman's Garage in Mt. Juliet and as a heavy equipment mechanic for Jones Bros. Construction Co., McDowell Contractors, and finally for Lo-Jac Enterprises. At one time he also operated a service station and garage on Lebanon Road. Melvin was known as a good story teller, and as a friendly, unpretentious, and quality human being. He died as he had lived, with courage and dignity. He was the son of the late, Buell and Della Mae Poindexter Agee. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Singleton Agee.

Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Bro. August Ruff officiating. Active pallbearers will be Macey Agee, Manny Agee, Mark Brewer, Tommy Brewer, Thomas Poindexter and Bubba Hendrix. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy and Betty Green and the employees of Lo-Jac.

Andrews, Lowell King, age 91, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died Thursday, March 3, 2011. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Danville, IL and attended Hermitage United Methodist Church in Hermitage, TN. Mr. Andrews was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved ball room dancing and Big Band music, was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Teamsters. Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his parents, Willard A. and Eva King Andrews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dale Andrews and sisters, Marie Ruster and Olive Taflinger.

Dean, Thomas E., age 63, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died Monday, March 14, 2011. Tom was a member of the Old Hickory First Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Dupont High School in Old Hickory, TN and Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. He was a member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, the Sports Car Club of America and the National Rifle Association. Tom was the son of the late, Aaron E. and Mollie Oslin Dean.

Smith, Walter Ray, age 83, of Lebanon, TN, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his residence following a long illness. His wife and children were by his side. Mr. Smith was a native of Charleston, WV. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Smith was employed in the electrical distribution business for over 45 years. He retired in 1994 as manager of the Princeton Electric Plant Board, Princeton, KY. Mr. Smith was the son of the late, Glenn Monroe and Bessie Blanche Blackshire Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Paul Smith and his identical twin brother, Wilbur Jay Smith on February 24, 2011.

Campbell, Ruby Paxson, age 87, of Lebanon, TN, died Monday, March 21, 2011. Mrs. Campbell was born in Kansas and raised in the Shawnee, Tecumseh and El Reno, OK area where she resided most of her life. She supported her country as a “Rosie Riveter” for Douglas Aircraft during WWII and was a pianist for the Southern Baptist Church. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her husband, Early J. Campbell and parents, Harold and Clara Paxson.

Hughes, Daniel Arthur, age 80, of Nashville, TN, and formerly of Huntsville, AL, died Friday, March 25, 2011. Mr. Hughes was an Aerospace Engineer and one of the Marines Chosin few. He was the son of the late, Arthur Francis and Edna Louise Ingrahm Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Garry Hughes.
