Gary was born in Owensboro,KY to the late Forrest and Dorothy Wilson. Gary had a love for family, music and sports. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. For much of his life, Gary worked as an accountant for HCA.

Jones, Jr., Larry Douglas “Doug”, age 51, of Old Hickory, TN died November 27, 2022. Doug was born in Nashville, TN. He attended The Belonging Church. His faith was very important to him and he enjoyed reading his devotionals every day. Doug was a 1989 graduate of Donelson Christian Academy. After graduation he attended Western Kentucky University, The University of Tennessee, and went on to graduate from David Lipscomb University. Doug had an extensive career as a pharmaceutical and medical sales representative. Doug was a great motivator and an incredibly charismatic person. His talents shined through his way of communicating with and mentoring others. He was an accomplished pianist and an avid reader. He also enjoyed watching football and working out at the gym. His number one joy in life was cheering on his children in sports, extracurricular, and celebrating their accomplishments. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Larry Douglas Jones, Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Yoshiko Honjo McWhirter and his paternal grandparents, Paul Kenneth and Margaret Jones.

Esslinger, John Michael, age 68, of Lebanon, TN died November 29, 2022. John was born in Chattanooga, TN and was the son of the late, Albert Roy Esslinger and Betty East Esslinger. He was a teacher in the Wilson County School System for 23 years. John taught 5th grade at West Elementary and Gladeville Elementary. He was an avid history buff. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Dolbi.

Harris, Mary Carolyn, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away on December 2, 2022 at the age of 90. Carolyn was born to the late Toy Vernon Williams and Mary Ellen Kitchings Williams and raised on a dairy farm in Wilson County, Tennessee. While attending Watertown High School she met the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Charles Harris. After graduation, the two married and left their familiar roots behind for the big city—Nashville. Upon moving to Nashville, she pursued a career at Life and Casualty Insurance and then a long tenure with an OB-GYN practice. Carolyn’s compassionate spirit and constant smile helped create a positive experience for all. Outside of work, Carolyn enjoyed regular bunko nights with her friends, cheering on the Duke Blue Devils and Vanderbilt Commodores during basketball season, the Atlanta Braves during baseball season and worshipping at Lebanon Road Church of Christ. After retirement, Carolyn and Charlie spent their time traveling; they ate lobster rolls in Maine, experienced Old Faithful’s eruption in Wyoming, eyed fall colors in the Northeast and watched the sun set in Hawaii.
Carolyn’s greatest joy was being a mother to her three children, LeEllen Harris Hibbs, Bryan Harris (Lynette) and John Harris (Lori). She extended that same love to her seven grandchildren, Mary Naylor (Jerry), Theresa Hibbs, Christina Hibbs, Chad Harris (Amy), Emily Harper (Al), Sarah Sauls (Daniel), and Andrew Harris (Cara). She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, Chloe and Charlotte Naylor, Jackson and Zachary Hibbs, Luke and Allie Harper, and Zoe and Charlie Harris, as well as her long time friend, Nita Johnston. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; her son-in-law, David Hibbs; and her grandson, John Hibbs.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate a life well lived on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Visitation will be from noon – 2 p.m. followed by a service officiated by J.D. Buckner. Active pallbearers will be Al Harper, Jerry Naylor, Chad Harris, Andrew Harris, Daniel Sauls and Alan Herald. Following the service, Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fairview Cemetery.

Hillis, Sudie Cynthia Shaw, age 87, of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 3, 2022. Sudie was born in Louisville, KY and was the daughter of the late, Silas Shaw and Edna Johnston Shaw. She was a devoted member of Center Chapel Church of Christ for over 50 years and a member of the Ladies Bible Study class. Sudie was a homemaker for most of her lifetime but she also was a substitute teacher in the Mt. Juliet schools. She enjoyed crocheting, loved her Dachshunds and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Sudie was faithful to send cards and visit the sick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rapheal Victor Hillis; son, Rickie Mason Hillis and sister, Jackie Winnett.

Valentine, Margie Pollock, age 85, of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 8, 2022. Margie was born in Hohenwald, TN and was the daughter of the late, James Wesley Pollock and Hattie Louise Reed Pollock. She was a member of the Full Gospel Mission Church. Margie worked as a cashier for All Out Parking, in the bakery at MegaMarket and as a cafeteria worker at Tusculum Elementary School. She was an excellent cook and sent her lifetime in service to others. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Valentine; son, Tony Valentine; grandson, Kyle Valentine; and siblings, Donnie Pollock and Virginia Sue Pollock.

Grundy, Raymond George, age 74, of Lebanon, TN passed away December 9, 2022. Raymond was born in Winchester, Massachusetts and was the son of the late, Robert Arthur Grundy and Ethel Pearl Anderson Grundy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Raymond formerly resided in Reading, MA and Madrid, ME. He was also preceded in death by 6 siblings, Nancy Baxter, Kay Eisenhaur, Diane Grundy, Yvonne Adams, Bert Grundy and Richard Grundy.
He is survived by sons, Paul (Carrie) Grundy and Shamus (Sherri McDonald) Grundy and their mother, Charlene Grundy; siblings, Sally Mahar, Valerie Hobbs, Roberta Mills, Patricia Ward, Luanne Little and Robert Grundy, Jr. and grandchildren, Brendan Beninati, Conner Grundy, Charlotte Grundy, Cameron Grundy, Mia Catarino and Chase Esquivel. Young, Bertha Mae Underwood, age 103, of Hermitage, TN died December 15, 2022. Bertha was born in Kodak, TN and was the daughter of the late, Charlie Covington Underwood and Ida Belle Bailey Underwood. She was a member of Lebanon Road Church of Christ and a faithful member. It gave her great joy to help others. Bertha was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed gardening, working at the florist, and was an excellent seamstress. She was a partner in a funeral home in KY. Bertha was devoted to her immediate family and her extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland W. Young; son, Rolland W. Young, Jr.; great-grandson, Carston Rhett Hill and 8 siblings.

Hunter, Tracey Leann, age 58, of Mt. Juliet, TN passed away December 15, 2022. Tracey was born in Hermitage, TN and was the daughter of the late, Thurman Ewing Rose and Norma Katheryne Gipson Rose. Tracey devoted 15 years of service in the Nutrition Department of Wilson County Schools. She was the cafeteria manager at Stoner Creek Elementary for the last 6.5 years, where she took great pride in her career and the friendships she made along the way. She enjoyed boating, walking trails along the lake, and vacationing with her husband, children, and grandchildren. The greatest love of her life was her family.

Thomas, Chance Robert Lewis, infant son of Marcus Thomas and Ashley Edwards passed away on December 12, 2022. Though his time on earth was short, he was deeply loved by his family. Chance was the namesake of his great-grandfather, Robert Edwards and his great-uncle, Henry Lewis Thomas. He has joined his cousin, Ezemiah Benton in Heaven.

Swoboda, John Christian, age 29, of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 8, 2022. John was born in Phoenix, AZ but spent most of his life in Nashville, TN area. He was a graduate of Wilson Central High School Class of 2011. John was an avid basketball player and an exceptional drummer. He excelled at golf, winning multiple tournaments, and was working to become a professional golfer. John loved his family and friends but most importantly, he had a loving relationship with and a firm belief in Jesus Christ.

Brantley, Frank, age 92, passed away December 13, 2022. A native of Mississippi, Frank was able to travel the world, first while serving in the Army and later for leisure with his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat”. Their travels included several mission trips to Honduras where he helped construct a school and church. Frank’s career was devoted to the Mississippi Highway Department from which he retired. Frank was known by all he encountered as warm, friendly, giving, and always ready to share a smile, a story, and a laugh. He and his late wife Pat loved people. They easily made friends wherever they went and were greatly appreciated for the kindness they extended to neighbors, church members, extended family, and staff and residents at their home of the last several years, McKendree Village. Frank could always be counted on to gently tease his friends about this or that. Prior to moving to Tennessee, Frank and Pat spent many joyful years of their retirement n Maggie Valley, North Carolina, a place they always treasured for its beauty and its people. There, Frank used his skills to build his own home and renovate several others. He also single handedly collected and repaired hundreds of bicycles that were donated to school children identified by their teachers as being in need. In more recent years he enjoyed wood working projects and participating in outings at McKendree. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and his wife of 65 years who passed in 2020.
He is survived by many extended family members, including his nephew, Kenneth (Judy) Anderson of Mississippi; brother-in-law, James (Cynthia) Miles of Michigan, and cousins-in- law, Sylvia Russell of North Carolina and her daughter, Kim Russell (Scott) McFadden of Tennessee.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

Erickson, Jesi Leigh Story, age 39, of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 18, 2022. Jesi was employed in the cafeteria at Green Hill High School. She had a great sense of humor and was always laughing. Jesi loved the sun, loved being in the water, loved being on the beach, loved being outdoors and loved hiking. Eakes, Murray Donald “Donnie”, age 85, of Lebanon, TN died December 29, 2022. Donnie was born in Suggs Creek, TN and was the son of the late, Murray Wilson Eakes and Robbie May Eakes.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Donnie was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School where he was the captain of the football team. He served in the Air National Guard and retired from Ford Glass Plant with 45 years of service. Donnie was a horse trainer and he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved sports especially UT Vols and Titans football.

Durbin, Bruce Weston, age 73, of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 28, 2022. Bruce was born in Cairo, IL and was the son of the late, Fred Durbin and Isabel Glade Durbin. He was a member of Joy Church. Bruce was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam and was a graduate of Murray State University. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fred Durbin, Jr. and Steve Durbin.

Mann, Louise Marie Johnson, age 87, of Old Hickory, TN died December 24, 2022. Louise was born in Eleva, WI and was the daughter of the late, Harry Johnson and Oleinna Gunderson Johnson. She was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church. Louise was an avid reader. She also started “The Widows Club” 20 years ago and it continued until COVID. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mann and siblings, Don Johnson, Vernon Johnson and Harriet Steffenson.
She is survived by:

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Celebration Lutheran Church, 3425 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN.

Manspeaker, George Stephen, age 86, of Mt. Juliet, TN died December 26, 2022. George was born in Nyack, NY and was the son of the late William Manspeaker and Rosalee Long Manspeaker. George served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Colonel on January 1, 1986. He then worked for the Hughes Aircraft Company until he officially retired in 2000. He was preceded in death by his siblings, William and Virginia.
He is survived by:
Wife of 62 years – Shelby Jean (Meeks) Manspeaker
Children – Stephen (Trish) Manspeaker, Robyn (Brad) Snyder and Scott (Kim) Manspeaker
Grandchildren – Tyler Manspeaker, Gracey Manspeaker, Megan Manspeaker, Morgan Manspeaker
and Gavin Manspeaker
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Bond Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service.
